Many parent volunteers don't realize how much they mean to teachers, staff and students at their schools.

Ben Olson, Grade 4

Just before school let out for the May long weekend, Percy Pegler student's and staff made sure they treated their parent volunteers to lunch, and let them know just how valuable they are.

Upcoming Chair of Percy Pegler's School Council Laurie Wright says it's nice to feel needed and appreciated.

"It's very much appreciated, which is nice." Wright says "We were also able appreciate the teachers today, we did a potluck for them so it's just a day of love here with lots of mutual appreciation."

The school choirs performed for the parents, had slide show presentations and speeches that outlined how the volunteers helped them learn about bullying, love and the importance of family and friends.

Percy Pegler Parent Shvonne Shepherd says parent support means the world whether in school, or out of school.

"I think they're very important, anything your kids participate in whether its school or extra curricular activities you always need parent support and parent volunteers."

Even Ben Olson, a grade 4 student says parent volunteers don't always know how much the students appreciate them either.

"They're really, really important.  If we went on field trips without them, it would be total mayhem, plus most of the parents here are really, really, REALLY fun."

Parent Volunteers enjoyed a nice lunch and refreshments during the show, where even local talent and Percy Pegler alumni Samm Smith, joined in the fun.
