Downtown will be looking a little bare soon.

Town of Okotoks Parks Staff are removing 32 black ash trees downtown over the next two weeks.

According to the Town the trees are in declining health due to an insect called Cottony Psyllid that can only be controlled by spraying pesticides.

As the town moves away from using pesticides wherever possible they have opted to replace these trees with a more suitable species that do not require pesticide spraying.

The town asks that motorists and residents use caution in areas where trees are being removed.
