The Okotoks Oilers will once again be partnering with the Alberta Cancer Foundation as they'll have their pink jersey auction this weekend.

Players will switch from their traditional green and gold colour scheme to specially designed pink jerseys and then auction them off after Saturday's tilt with the Canmore Eagles.

Oilers business manager and billet coordinator Dawn LaMaiste says the team takes pride in being a part of helping the foundation.

"The Oilers are excited to be joining forces with the Alberta Cancer Foundation this year, we'll be raising funds directly for breast cancer research," she says. "We have fabulous special edition breast cancer jerseys that will be auctioned off over the weekend."

LaMaiste says the breast cancer weekend games are always special to the organization as a whole, as many members of the team on and off the ice have been impacted by some shape or form by the disease.

"Its a great way for us to show our appreciation and raise some funds for a great cause."

She says the jersey styles get better and better each year the team does them.

"Its always fun to see what each team in the AJHL comes up with and their different spin-off of pink and how the players support and wear that pink," LaMaiste says. "We're just thankful that we're able to raise funds for a great cause like the Alberta Cancer Foundation and assist with breast cancer research."

LaMaiste adds the jerseys will be pinker than in past years and have a vintage Oiler jersey feel to them.

The jerseys will be in a silent auction and the team is encouraging fans to "Pink Out" Pason Centennial Arena while members of the coaching staff and broadcast team will be dawning pink attire as well.
