The Town of Okotoks has welcomed a new municipal enforcement manager.

Kelly Steinwand and his family moved to Okotoks a year and a half ago from Prince Albert prior to him starting his new position with the Town.

Tim Stobbs, former municipal enforcement manager, recently retired and Steinwand has since been hired for the role which he began at the end of June.

Steinwand says he had a long standing career with the police in Saskatchewan before he made the move.

"I spent most of my time in Saskatoon and Regina but I got a job in Prince Albert and spent 28 years with the Prince Albert police service. I just recently retired there as the deputy chief and we found ourselves here in Okotoks and I'm really looking forward to this new opportunity."

He says when his family decided to make the move they knew they wanted to be in a community that shared their values.

"We made a very specific decision to choose the community that suited the things that were important to us, where we were going to raise a family, the conveniences of a large city like Calgary, and those sorts of things," he explains. "Okotoks just checked off all those boxes for us and when we first discovered the community we did a little research and this community values some really important things."

Steinwand shares Okotoks has a great identity with a small town feel and says the future is bright for the town.
