Okotoks RCMP are looking for the suspect in a robbery that took place early in the morning on new years day.

Around 5 a.m. a man armed with a pipe walked into the Mac's convenience store on Milligan Drive and demanded cash and cigarettes.

The suspect was given $40 to $50, and two packs of cigarettes before he left and walked towards the Okotoks Recreation Centre parking lot.

Sergeant Sukh Randhawa says the clerk responded appropriately to the situation.

"The clerk did absolutely the right thing at the time of the event he handed over the cash and complied with the demands of the suspect."

Randhawa says no one was hurt during the robbery.

The suspect is described as being a male in his thirties, wearing black jeans, a hoody, and a face mask.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Okotoks RCMP (403-995-6400) or Crime Stoppers (1-800-222-8477).
