Town of Okotoks property taxes are due Thursday, and the town has multiple ways for residents to pay their taxes.

However Finance and Systems director Rolland Russell says that paying in person at the municipal centre is always best but sometimes people just can't make it.

"If you can't make it to the municipal centre in person by 4:00 p.m. then we do have a 24 hour drop box at the municipal centre that you could drop it in on June 30th."

Russell adds that on the day taxes are due the municipal centre can be quite busy so expect a bit of a line or a wait.

Along with paying at the municipal centre or by putting it in the drop box there are other ways that you can pay, such as directly at the bank.

"You can also pay your taxes at the TD because that's who the town banks with, it will be deposited immediately to our account," Russell says.

Russell advices if you are paying threw your own bank to keep in mind that the up coming weekend is a holiday weekend meaning that it could take a couple day to process and fines are possible.

For those who are thinking about using the virtual town office remember that visa payments are not accepted for taxes or utilities so that could pose a problem for some.

If paying online is the preferred method for some,  there is another way to do so.

"The other option for online is if you have the town set up on your own web banking system you can pay through that."

If you have payed your taxes by mail and it is not received on the 30th, it is not a problem as long as there is stamp saying you put it in before the 30th or on the 30th then you will not be fined.
