Students and teachers from Okotoks Junior High School hit the ice Wednesday for the student vs. teachers hockey game.

Students headed to the rink to watch the game and have a afternoon of showing their school spirit.

Blake Jeanson played goal for the students and says it is a fun event for the whole school to get involved with.

"Some of the kids in the stands don't play hockey, but they still get involved in the game," Jeanson says.

The entire school did get involved raising over $1,000 for KidSport Okotoks.

Jeanson says the best part of the day was being out on the ice and getting to play the sport he loves.

He says as a goalie you don't chirp people much but during the game against his teachers, that was different.

"You can chirp your teachers and they can't do anything about it."

Along with the school body, members of the Okotoks Kraft Hockeyville Committee were getting the word out about Okotoks' journey to become the next Kraft Hockeyville.

Throughout the game students were told to take pictures and post them on social media with the #KHV_PasonCentArena hashtag.

Jeanson says winning Hockeyville would be exciting.

"I play hockey a lot in the arenas in town, and at times my team has to go practice in Stavely because we don't have the ice time, so winning Hockeyville will help with schedules," Jeanson says.
