The Okotoks Fire Department only had to deal with one fire call in this week's edition of the fire report.

Fire chief Ken Thevenot says it was just an average week for fire services, only having to respond to 16 calls last week.

"We had had four medical assistances with one medical response, four alarm system activations, we had three motor vehicle accidents, we did a mutual aid regarding a structure fire, we had public hazard and an older investigation we attended to as well," he says.

During their latest car seat clinic Thevenot says they encountered a few problems with some of them.

"We had eight cars seats that we helped folks out with, educating them on the proper installation on car seats to make sure the little ones are secured."

Car seat clinics are every second Wednesday and are free to everyone.

With kids heading back to school and parents driving them to and from at times, Thevenot reminds everyone on the roads to be aware of students, not just in school zones.

"Let's start talking about the kids going back to school and injury prevention. We have to start reminding ourselves in school zones, the kids are going to start walking there, we need to be mindful of all of the speeds in school zones and let's start practicing that now."
