The Okotoks Fire Department responded to a call in the Okotoks business park Saturday, Nov 5th.

Upon arrival at 3:30 p.m. Sunshine Exteriors was found in flames, taking 17 firefighters to get control of the blaze.

Fire Chief Ken Thevenot says it took some time to fully control the fire.

"Crews found flames coming out of the building, the building is approximately 60 x 80 in size. There was heavy flame and smoke inside the building and crews had a bit of a time to get the fire under control, about an hour and a half to two hours. After that we just cleaned up some hot spots."

Thevenot says the cause of the incident is still under investigation.

"We left it for 24 hours just to dissipate some of the gases. So we've got our investigators going back there this afternoon so the fire is still under investigation at this time."

No road closures were or are in place in the area, Sunshine Exteriors is now closed due to the fire and smoke damage and no one was injured in the incident.

Thevenot adds everyone handled the incident very well.

"The public was very good with staying out of the way...and we also had to call in High River and Heritage Pointe, a crew from each station was sent in, and we thank them for their help."
