Commercial vehicle operators are invited to have their vehicles checked at a special event in Okotoks today.

Town of Okotoks Municipal Enforcement Manager Kelly Stienwand says it's an opportunity for operators to have their questions answered and their vehicles checked, free-of-charge.

"It's an opportunity for our local business owners to bring their commercial vehicles, could be a van, could be a truck and trailer, whatever they might have," Stienwand explains. "And to allow our peace officers and our law enforcement partners to just have a quick look to ensure that there isn't something that they're missing or some sort of an insurance or weight issue that they should be aware of ."

Law enforcement officials will be on hand on Don Seaman Way in Okotoks from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. today for the education and awareness event.

"It won't take long," Stienwand points out. "So, if they want to just pop through, if they only have a few minutes, we'll absolutely respect their time. It won't be a waiting game for them, we know everyone's busy, so if they just pop in and touch base with our officers and partners it'll be great."
