Fort McMurray's Wood Buffalo Food Bank will be getting a helping hand from Okotoks on Friday.

The Food Bank was damaged from the wildfires then went through another fire, that was deemed to be suspicious, back in August where they lost approximately $200,000 worth of food donations.

Residents have began returning to their homes in the fire ravaged community and the food bank is feeling the pinch with the holidays quickly approaching.

Cindy Mcdonald, event organizer, says the gala has entertainment for everyone to enjoy.

"We thought we'd enjoy a variety of what Okotoks has to offer as far as artists so there's going to be all sorts of different musicians, stage performances, choir pieces, opera, harp, anything you can think of is going to be on stage."

Mcdonald says a former Okotoks resident will be wowing the audience.

"There's going to be some incredibly talented artists, we actually have a wonderful young woman coming in who's a former Okotokian named Courtney Murias," she says. "Courtney's an emerging artist with the Calgary Opera, she's with Cowtown Opera, and she's got a couple of pieces that are going to knock your socks off."

The evening gets started at 6:30 p.m. and will include refreshments, a 50/50 draw, and a silent auction. All proceeds from the concert and silent will go towards the Wood Buffalo Food Bank.

Tickets are available for $20 for adults and $15 for children (under 12-years-old are free) and seniors at the Okotoks Alliance Church or by calling (403) 938-2614.
