The Okotoks Chamber of Commerce is celebrating after an award winning weekend.

While in Red Deer for the Alberta Chamber of Commerce's AGM, Okotoks was recognized as the Chamber of the Year for medium sized chambers.

Cheryl Actemichuk, CEO of the Okotoks Chamber, says it's amazing to be set apart from others.

"I'm thrilled, I couldn't be happier," she says. "It was such a shock and it's awesome to be a recipient of one of these awards when you realize the Alberta Chamber of Commerce has 128 chamber members under them. We're one of the three winners so it's pretty awesome."

Actemichuk says there's criteria that needs to be met to receive the award.

"It's based on the number of members that you have, amount of growth you've had, what percentage of the business population are members of your chamber, then things like attending the policy and advocacy workshops, round tables, holding some of our own events, the Disney Institute of Training we had, the MPs dinner... just some of the other events the Alberta Chamber puts on, the more we attend the more presence we get."

After their successful weekend the Okotoks Chamber is now preparing for their luncheon on Wednesday at the D'Arcy Ranch where Shane Olsen, manager of Economic Development for the Town, will be presenting and answering questions.
