An Okotoks author is ready to debut her latest supernatural horror novel.

J.J. Reichenbach is a professional editor with two bachelor degrees from the University of Calgary in psychology and sociology and enjoys writing gothic thrillers and science fiction novels.

She's loved horror all her life and began writing when she graduated high school in Okotoks.

Reichenbach says the book, titled "Notorious Nix", is the second in her series.

"This particular series I'm writing right now, I'm on the second book, is about demonic possession but from a demon's point of view, so it's pretty dark but also funny if you have a messed up sense of humour like I do."

Reichenbach is an indie author which she says differs from the world of traditional publishing.

"I haven't even tried to sell my work through a publisher because I just don't care for the politics of traditional publishing," she says. "In a lot of ways it's harder to get your work known without going through traditional publishing but if you're part of the local writing communities and know other local writers a lot of them are indie publishers and self-publish their own work, so there's a lot of support there."

A sneak peak book signing is taking place at Indigo Signal Hill on Aug. 7 from 11:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. with the official book launch taking place on Aug. 8 from 7:00- 9:00 p.m. at the Owl's Nest in Calgary.
