As the 40th Annual Sheep River Road Race prepares to start Saturday morning, residents are curious about the route and road closures.

Chuck Holmstrom, event time keeper, says it's always helpful for residents to know what the route is, and if there will be any disruptions.

"It follows the pathways around the pond by Costco, and then the 5 k just goes back to the school," he said.

Holmstrom says the route is pretty simple and does not require any road closures.

"The 10 k goes over to the pathway along the river, and then just before the steel stairs where the path is blocked off it moves over one block to Woodhaven Drive, and then finishes on Woodhaven Drive with a turn around, and then back to the school again along the pathway," he said.

Holmstrom adds that the roads runners will be crossing are typically less busy, so no closures are required as they have marshals at the crossings. Residents are advised to be mindful of runners that may be crossing roads.

Holmstrom also advises runners to dress in warmer attire as the weather is much more chilly than usual at this time of year when the race takes place.
