The Foothills School Division has new assignments for principals Scott Carey and Caroline Roberts in the 2016-2017 school year. Roberts, current principal of Big Rock School in Okotoks, will be changing places with Carey, principal at Oilfields Junior and Senior High School in Black Diamond.

Assistant Superintendent of Employee Services Allen Davidson says the division is looking forward to seeing how these principals excel in the next year.

"We certainly put significant time into supporting leadership development in our system, and both Mr. Carey and Ms. Roberts are experienced leaders in our system who will bring their individual strengths to their new assignments and we expect great things in both those school communities."

Davidson says he's sure Roberts and Carey will provide strong leadership for the students and staff at the Oilfields and Big Rock Schools. He says their enthusiasm, integrity, and deep commitment to student learning will be great assets in their new assignments. He says the Foothills School Division knows student learning is impacted most by quality teaching and leadership excellence and these principals will bring their individual strengths to their new roles.

"It's just an opportunity in the system, and we certainly are in ongoing conversations with all of our school admin. We just feel that this is a great opportunity for both of these school communities and we really look forward to the leadership strengths that Scott and Caroline will bring to those two assignments."

Davidson says both Roberts and Carey are both dedicated and well-researched individuals that connect well with the communities they are serving and he has no doubt the students in Oilfields and Big Rock will be well served by their new leadership.
