The process, conflicting sites, confirmation and now the land where the new K-9 school in Okotoks has been paid for.

Okotoks Town Council revealed at their meeting Tuesday the official purchase of 40 acres of the Wedderburn land across from Holy Trinity Academy on 32nd Street.

The land cost the Town $4.8 million, approximately $120,000 an acre.

There were original plans to have the school built in Aldersyde near the Crescent Point Field House before the Foothills School Division and Town came to decision after the land was conditionally purchased late last fall.

Ground is expected to break on the new school this fall and is expected to be open in the 2017-18 school year.
