The Tudor Manor Seniors Care facility in Okotoks raised $100,000 in 13 months for a bus for the facility.

Nancy Hammer, Director of Communications for the Brenda Strafford Foundation which owns Tudor Manor, says there was a tremendous amount of support from local groups and businesses along with town council.

She says the largest amount of support and help came from inside of Tudor Manor.

"Overall the majority of the revenue came from family members of loved ones living in Tudor Manor."

According to Hammer the vehicle is a significant size and will be able to serve those with a variety of needs.

"We're able to accommodate six to eight wheel chairs at a time," she says. "Plus some folks who are able to sit in regular chairs so up to 12 passengers at one time."

Hammer says the bus will benefit the Manor because it will give residents a chance to get involved by attending community events, socials, and even do some shopping.

"That was the most important part of the project for us, so that the residents could become active members of Okotoks as well." Hammer says.
