The Town will be receiving a boost of new blood as they've filled the vacant operations and infrastructure director's position.

The position was left open when the previous director retired last quarter, so Chris Radford will be the lucky new town employee.

Radford currently lives in Kelowna but has spent plenty of time here in town as he has family in the area.

He says he did some research on the town and decided to apply as he was interested in the amount of prize winning initiatives coming out of our town.

"I started to get a little more familiar with the town, so I started researching on the Town's website and I saw some of the initiatives they've implemented and was very interested." Radford says "So I thought this might be an opportunity that I might want to take a shot at, and I want to become part of the Okotoks team."

Radford says he's excited to become part of our vibrant community and looks forward to his work.

"I see Okotoks as a real forward thinking community, and it's award winning! A lot of these initiatives have been implemented, followed up on and proven positive for the community."

He already even knows what his greatest challenge will be and hopes he can hit the ground running.

"The biggest hurdle right now facing Okotoks is water and the treated water pipeline from Calgary, and to be able to sustain the positive growth." Radford says "I know that Okotoks has worked diligently and has proven to reduce the per capita of water consumption, and so as long as residents can continue to do that it'll ease the burden on the water supply and the demand, and the residents are doing a great job."

Radford will bring over 25 years of experience in community and environmental services along with infrastructure and operations experience. He will begin his new adventure with the Town of Okotoks Feb. 21.
