Nanton was getting into the spirit of the holidays, and brought Christmas cheer to the Foothills with their annual Nanton Lights The Way event.

This year they added something extra special to the event.

In addition to the late night shopping, free family skating, bake-off, gingerbread house construction, and the Distinctly Nanton Christmas Market, the town held their first ever light and decorating competition for both residents and businesses alike.

For parents hoping to cross off some of the items on their kids wish lists, the Nanton Candy Store held a Kids Craft Corner, where kids could watch Christmas movies, do crafts, color and play, giving parents the opportunity to check out the deals and the unique shopping experience.

Pauline Higgins, of the Nanton Candy Store, says "Nanton is a great place to come if you don't want to go to a mall, but rather want to find a unique gift for your special someone."

The weekend long Light The Way event wraps up today at 5pm.
