There will be a special Remembrance Day service held at the Bomber Command Museum this Wednesday.

Douglas Bowman, publicist for the museum, says this year the ceremony will pay special attention to Thomas Fetherston.

"Thomas was trained at High River to fly, and he became a Halifax pilot with 102 Squadron. Thomas tragically was killed in action over the North Sea, just 40 kilometers west of Wijk aan Zee, Holland in 1942. It was only his second operation."

Bowman also mentions that Fetherston's family had to wait years for closure concerning Fetherston's story.

"He was listed in missing in action for 57 years, until an identity bracelet was discovered by a Hollander walking along the beach. And his story was closed when his bracelet was returned to the family in Canada."

Rain or shine, the Bomber Command Museum's Remembrance Day service will begin at 11 a.m. in Nanton. They will be laying a wreath during the ceremony in Thomas Fetherston's honour. After the ceremony, visitors will be invited to tour the museum, check out the interior of the Lancaster, and see their interactive displays.
