With winter taking another run at Southern Alberta RCMP are reminding people to drive to the conditions.

After a storm earlier in the week another dumping of snow is about to move in Friday night, March 16th and go into Saturday.

High River Staff Sergeant Robin Alexander says it has been a brutal winter.

He said if you have to be on the roads make sure your are driving to the road conditions.

"We would encourage people not to drive on the roads at all if they don't have to," said Alexander. " During those weather events if you don't have to."

He adds if you do drive, drive according to the weather conditions.

"Make sure all your lights are on, not just your daytime driving lights and drive according to the road conditions."

If you can't see very far in front of you there is a good chance you could run up behind someone and hit them.

"Just be really cautious out there. The keys are speed and making yourself real visible out there."

Make sure your vehicle is visible by turning on all your lights, including your taillights in bad driving conditions no matter what time of day it is.

The weather highlights for the weekend include:

- Snow with a second system pushing into southwestern Alberta late Friday night with moisture lingering through Sunday.

- Heaviest snowfall amounts expected in the Foothills, between 5-10 cm between Red Deer and Calgary.

- Snow totals decrease the further north you go, less than 5 cm expected in Edmonton.
