A very busy night in Cayley with local landowners filling the Oddfellows Hall to capacity to find out more information on overdue rent on gas wells on their properties.

Local land owner Michelle Smith says there was lot's of information, which answered most of the questions.

"I think the most important message was the owners will be getting their annual rentals. But, there's a process that needs to be followed. It's a little complicated, but there's a lot of people willing to help them. If they follow the process through they will be able to get their money."

Smith says Lexin bought the contracts from Compton Petroleum and because their operations are out of Hong Kong, it was leading to some confusion.

Smith says there was a lot of anger and anxiety when the meeting began, but by the end most everyone was feeling better about the situation.
