Today, calories don't count as they're going towards a good cause.

McDonald's nation wide, are donating $1 from every McCafe, Big Mac, or Happy Meal ordered from any of the restaurants, to the Ronald McDonald Charity.

One local resident, Lynda Goulden has a personal connection with the Ronald McDonald House and Charity.

Goulden says, they made it possible for her family to make it through a very tough time in their lives.

"Two years ago, one of our Granddaughters had a brain tumor.  My family lives in Grand Prairie, but my Son, Daughter in law, and the rest of the family were able to come down and stay at the Ronald McDonald house, while she underwent chemo treatments."

The Ronald McDonald House Charity helps nearly 30,000 families throughout the nation.

They offer support, lodgings and a comfortable home away from home, for families with sick children.

Goulden's granddaughter was in the hospital for a long time, and she recounts how much easier it made the trials for her family.

"So in total, they were staying at the Ronald McDonald House, for just over four months off and on." Goulden emotionally recounts,  "Just to be there though, with people who were going through the same thing as them, they were able to unwind and relax between the treatments and things, it meant so much."

She also says it was blessing to be able to keep their family together, as they had one other child to look after during everything.

"They have another child, and so it was good for them to be able to play with the other children, and try to have as normal a time as possible through all of this."

Last year, McHappy Day raised over $5 Million, for RMHC around Canada.
