McDonald's and United Way Okotoks are partnering together today to support local organizations.

On Wed., $1 from every Egg McMuffin, Big Mac, McChicken, and Happy Meal purchased will go towards the United Way in Okotoks.

Debbie Posey, Town of Okotoks liaison for the United Way Okotoks committee, says the money raised will stay in town.

"Every cent that we raise in Okotoks will stay in Okotoks and the local volunteer committee will re-allocate those funds out through our community distribution to our agencies."

The United Way Okotoks supports Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Foothills Fetal Alcohol Society, Foothills SNAPS, Rowan House Emergency Shelter, Foothills School Division, Christ the Redeemer School Division, Foothills Community Immigrant Services, High River and District Parent Link, and KidSport Okotoks.

Posey says while McDonald's is a large franchise, there's a local feel in working with them.

"Everybody's on board, everybody's excited. I don't think the local owners would've participated if they didn't know the funds raised in the community stay in the community because that seems to be very important to the owner here. We're just thrilled to be working with them."

Both McDonald's locations in Okotoks on Southbank Boulevard and Southridge Drive are participating.
