The Creamery Community Market in Okotoks is looking to return next year.

The market began in July and took place at the historical site of the Old Creamery Building that burned down in May 2015.

An application has been submitted to Okotoks Town Council requesting the market be held on the Old Creamery Building site again next year. A response will be given in January once council has a better idea of what the long term use will be for the land.

Bev Carlson, coordinator of the Creamery Community Market, says organizers were impressed with how the market came together on short notice.

"We think it went really, really well. We were all very new at this, a few people in our committee had been involved in markets and done this before but most of us had not. We put it together in a pretty short time span and I think we were very pleased with the outcome and the way the season went for us."

Carlson says with only four weeks of preparation for the market last year, it would be nice to spread the word earlier.

"This year if we get the approval in January we'll have a lot more lead time," she says. "Come January most of the vendors already know where they're going to spend their entire season so we want to be in on that ground floor and be able to be one of those markets that's a destination market for the vendors and they can commit to a whole season."

According to Carlson the market averaged about 15 vendors each weekend.
