A Calgary man is looking for tips after a sail boat and trailer was taken from a property he was storing it at in Okotoks.

Boat owner Andrew Birkett says the theft happened sometime between Sunday night and Monday morning the items were taken from a property on South Railway Street.

"I personally don't live in Okotoks but my grandparents live there, and that's where the boat was stored, it was kind of hidden away in their backyard. Sometime overnight between the sixteenth and the morning of the seventeenth my boat was stolen, it had a lock on it but I guess those aren't worth much."

Birkett says the boat is a Glenmore FJ, about 13 feet long, thankfully he says, he has the hull and other equipment stored elsewhere.

"It's a white sail boat, about 13ft long with a black bumper around the lip, at the time It said Marcellus on the bow, there's blue stripe on the port gunnel near the Stern, and a blue turtle bag near the Bow."

The Hull Identification number for the boats ends in: 7J595

The trailer holding the boat is a black older moldel Chrysler.

Birkett shares the RCMP are looking into this case, and hopes anyone who saw anything suspicious on the pathway near South Railway Street at the time will call RCMP with tips.

"The only place the boat was actually visible from would be a pathway leading to the river on South Railway Street."

Any information can be passed along to Okotoks RCMP by calling 403-938-4202.
