Longview is the place to be Saturday as the Twin Cities Hotel is celebrating a grand re-opening.

The manager of the hotel, Gail Jacobs says new owners took it over back in January and they've been busy with renovations to the 77-year-old building since and there's lots in store for people to take in.

"We're having free beef on a bun and door prizes and bands playing, jail-and-bail and the proceeds from that are going to the Longview school lunch program and the Foothills Food Bank," she says.

She says the new owners have done a lot more than just spruce it up

"They have put lots and lots of money into it," Jacobs says. "Brand new dining room, brand new equipment in the kitchen, it's absolutely beautiful. They put up a new deck, we put the 65-foot derrick in the parking lot."

She says the derrick has garnered a lot of interest since it went up. "Lots of people stop and take pictures and wonder if we're really drilling for oil," she adds.

Jacobs says even the rooms are getting a makeover.

The event goes all day and into the night at the Twin Cities Hotel on Highway 22, right through the heart of Longview.
