An Okotoks family is on the lookout after their pet Sulcata Tortoise flew the coop near Heritage Heights School on Saturday.

Jody Jordan and her family went away on family vacation for the long weekend and left their 4 pigs, 2 dogs and tortoise at home with a pet-sitter.

When the sitter had left Khoopa outside, the turbo tortoise had made a run for it.

"We were away for the long weekend and we came home to find out that khoopa had been missing. So the petsitter had let him out saturday afternoon and when it came time for him to go back into his pen, he wasn't around." Jordan said.

Jordan and her family are asking people to keep a look out for Khoopa around the area.

While the family does not believe theft was involved, they are still asking people to keep an eye on the buy and sell sites in Alberta, BC & Saskatchewan.

The Jordan family have been out everyday searching by foot, horseback and car in an attempt to find Khoopa.

Because of the vast area around Heritage Heights School and highway 552, its possible that Khoopa could be adventuring a little longer.

While you may want to giggle at the uniqueness of this story, it is still a reminder to anyone who leaves pets outside to keep an eye on them.

Jordan is welcoming any help she can get to help find Khoopa and is asking anyone who sees him to call the Southern Alberta Veternary Hosptial at 403 995 3270.
