This year marks the 75th anniversary of the Foothills 187 Air Cadets Squadron.

Geraldine Flootman says her son Gideon and close to forty others are hoping to mark the occasion with a visit to the Boeing aircraft  manufacturing plant near Seattle.

But it's costly.

"It's still to be determined but it could be up to $750 that we'll have to pay as a sponsoring committee," she says.  "So we're doing extra fundraising and we're hoping to reduce those costs, we're working with the civil air patrol in  Washington state as well to see if they can help us out with accommodations to reduce the cost."

Gideon, for one, is looking forward to the trip.

"Seeing Boeing, which is the largest manufacturer of airplanes in the world is going to be quite interesting and just watch how the planes are built and such because it's just one massive long assembly line, going around a loop, " he says.

The cadets have a Dessert and Silent Auction event Saturday April 1 with roast beef and all the trimmings and desserts made by the cadet's parents which will be auctioned off. Geraldine Flootman says last year some desserts were going for $150 to $200.

It'll be held at the 187 Foothills Squadron at the High River Airport and tickets are still available.
