Saturday, Sept. 23 was a big day for two local art enthusiasts, as the new Lineham House Galleries held their official grand opening.

Guests such as Mayor Bill Robertson, Councillor Tanya Thorn, MP John Barlow, and MLA Wayne Anderson were all in in attendance to celebrate the opening.

Lineham House Galleries Co Owner Cheryl Taylor says herself, and Co Owner Janifer Calvez are ecstatic to officially unveil the gallery.

"We couldn't be more thankful we're so glad it's here, these things are always a lot of preparation. It's really worth it to see everyone coming together and showing their support, being part of something we hope will be truly special in the community for many years to come."

Although the Grand Opening was recently held, Lineham House Galleries have been open to the public for three months, Taylor says she's elated with visitor's reactions.

"They always leave not only appreciating the gallery but the house itself, it is a truly unique home for our community, one of the few heritage buildings we have left. People say that the art, history and ambiance that we have created here just really resonates. Nine times out of ten, they're bringing people back within a couple of weeks which is perfect."

Co Owner Janifer Calvez agrees, sharing the response from the community has been encouraging.

"We've just been getting nothing but positive responses, they love the house, they love the energy when they come in the house, and they're thrilled when there's lots of beautiful art. The art is constantly changing so people keep coming back, so that's been really great."

Lineham House Galleries is located at 33 Elma Street.
