Local entrepreneurs invested in the community this week after a successful lemonade day last weekend here in Okotoks.

The Bitter Sweet stand, run by Alexis Gibbs and Janae MacKinnon, donated their funds to "It Takes a Village," in support of foothills families in need of baby essentials. The girls say they chose this charity to spread the generosity around.

"Everyone else was doing Heaven Can Wait, so we just decided it would be nice to do It Takes a Village," said Alexis.

The Bitter Sweet stand went through two jugs of lemonade, and 17 lemons last Saturday, quenching the thirst of residents in Okotoks and contributing to a worthy cause.

Rachel Swendseid, Co-Founder of It Takes a Village in Okotoks, says it's inspiring to see young people helping others in their community.

"Some of the families that we're helping, could be their neighbours. It's amazing, it's neighbours helping neighbours and it's such a wonderful community.  We're so happy," said Swendseid.

It Takes a Village was founded by locals Swendseid and Leah Sampson, and has accelerated from a home-based business to a corporate office space.
