Saturday is Lemonade Day in the Foothills.

It is the end product of the Lemonade day program that started two months ago.

Lemonade Day representative Tanya Thorn says it's a youth entrepreneurship program.

"It teaches kids everything they need to know to start, own and operate their own business."

Kids either open their own lemonade stand or open one with friends.

Each stand had to go out into the communities to find a place to set up, and then got a business license for the day.

"They all set their own hours, but typically they will operate from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.," Thorn says.

Participants are encouraged to follow the three S's that lemonade day teaches.

Spend- To have fun and spend some of the money they have earned.

Save - To save some of the money because in the Foothills the lemonade business is not a full-time job, because we do get rain and snow.

Thorn says the final S is to share.

"Each of the stands usually picks a charity that is important to them, and then they decide how much of their proceeds will go to that charity."

Thorn says those who come out and support the day should ask the kids what they plan to spend the money on, save for and what charities they want to donate to.
