The Leighton Arts Centre will be hosting two opening receptions this weekend, one being the artist's first solo show.

Stephanie Doll, Director of Exhibitions at the centre, says the reception in the Tower Gallery will feature "Threaded Through Paint,"

" It's her first solo show. It's a water colour exhibition, she paints textiles, but in water colour. They're very vibrant and very creative," said Doll.

Doll says the centre has many new artists, and the event will feature 35 pieces by 18 different artists.

The exhibit in the main gallery will focus on the Bison, and feature other animals, as well.

" It's an exhibition all about bison. It's paintings and sculptures and installations, and we do have some related animals on exhibition, like wolves, magpies and pronghorns," she said.

The opening receptions both take place on Saturday, June 16th from 2 to 4 p.m., and will feature artists on site to talk about their creations.
