The Okotoks Art Gallery will being saying goodbye to two exhibits that have called it home for the past month.

Pascale Ouellet's exhibit "Crated" will be in the small gallery until Sat. Feb. 27, while the Trex programs exhibit "Printfluence" will be in the large gallery until Wed. Feb. 24.

Okotoks' Culture and Heritage Manager Allan Boss says Printfluence is part of a program that has been around since 1981.

"Printfluence is part of the Alberta Foundation for the Arts travelling program called a Trex program," Boss says.

Boss says the program has helped artists and communities by putting together these exhibits.

The exhibit is made up of artwork from four different artists, one of which is Tadeusz Warszynski, a renowned print artist that is a master of reductive woodblock printing.

The other three artists Andrea Itzeck, Brenda Malkinson and Sara Norquay studied the technique under him.

Boss says the way it's is done is by drawing a image on a block of wood and then carving out parts of the drawing, dipping it in paint and repeating the process with other colours until the entire image is carved out.

"In the end you get images that are deep and rich textured and colourful that have gone through a process of being created by a step-by-step methodical process."

Boss says those who have come in to see the exhibit have enjoyed the experience and been pleased with it.

"It is a beautiful, bright and colourful exhibit that looks fantastic in the space, and the general feedback has been fabulous," Boss says.

The Gallery is open 10-5 Tuesday to Saturday.
