KidSport Okotoks is ready to get more children involved in sport thanks to its recent campaign with Okotoks Sobeys.

Through a donation initiative at the local grocery store, $5,020 was raised to help kids get involved with sport.

Shari Gustafson, chair of KidSport Okotoks, says the funds will go a long way for local families.

"It would be like funding 25 spring soccer registration fees or 16 competitive soccer registration fees. It would also get 16 kids involved in martial arts this spring or it could get 25 young youth involved in baseball."

She adds it's also the equivalent of funding five hockey players or dancers for a season.

Gustafson says thanks to the generosity of Sobeys the campaign will make be making a comeback next year.

"Dave down at Sobeys has agreed to do this annually for us and we just hope that as word gets out about how sport impacts youth's lives and how you can reach out to help others that this will continue to grow."

Monetary donations and sports equipment donations can be made to KidSport year round.
