The Christmas spirit is on display for all to see in High River's George Lane Park downtown.

But, as with any Christmas tree, there are a few gaps and bare spots that need to be filled in.

Ted Dawson and his committee are looking for donations to get more decorations for next year and into the future.

"We're still waiting for one wise man to arrive from the east so we're trying to raise a little more money so we can get him for next year and then with gradually expanding the lights in the park we still have a few more areas where it would be good to put more lights in," Dawson says. "It's been near and dear to my heart for a number of years and then when the park was being rebuilt after the flood, through Rotary International, the Rotary Club of High River was able to raise some funds and get us our initial start up on the basis that after they gave us our kick-start we were on our own."

He says if they can raise money now they can buy more decorations when they go on sale early in the new year and hopefully be able to but more items locally.

Donations for a charitable receipt for donations over $100.00 can be made to: the Town of High River – George Lane Park Lights, attention Kim Unger; or just make a donation to the Rotary Club of High River – George Lane Park Lights (no charitable tax receipt).
