Edmonton MLA Thomas Dang has introduced a private members bill called the Alberta Standard Time Act.

A survey conducted by the NDPcaucus found 82-per cent of respondents preferred not changing their clocks an hour ahead in the spring and then an hour back again in the fall.

But they don't want to just do away with Daylight Saving Time, they want it extended all year long to get that extra hour of light at the end of the day, even in winter.

“When I talk to people across the province, they keep telling me that the time change we have now must go,” said Thomas Dang, MLA for Edmonton-South West. “The Albertans who filled out this survey made their voice clear: they want longer evenings and for it to stay that way throughout the year.”

The survey was up for three weeks and more than 25,000 people completed it
