Kananaskis Country is celebrating it's 40th birthday.

Until the end of the month, Albertans are encouraged to share their photos of K-Country on all social media platforms.

The hashtag #mykcountrycontest can be used for a chance to have photos featured on Alberta Parks' social media and in an Alberta Parks video.

In 1978, Kananaskis Country was officially dedicated by former Alberta Premier Peter Lougheed and since then has welcomed over 75 million visitors.

Those heading out west this weekend can enjoy a variety of activities at the Peter Lougheed Provincial Park Discovery Centre.

From 11:30- 12 p.m. there will be cake, a family program called Voices in the Valley, and at 1:15 p.m. Experiential Bear Hike with WildSmart will be taking place.
