A group of local moms are working to together to help families deal with the everyday struggles of supporting a newborn baby.

It Takes A Village was started in Okotoks in December of last year hoping that members of the community would donate new or used newborn wear to families who need it and can't afford it.

Co-founder Leah Sager says the charity is still getting the word out that there's an organization that can help families with newborns.

"What we've done is created a website called www.takesavillageokotoks.com," she says. "What we are is a group of mothers that were concerned and came together, so the drop-off locations we have are two of our homes and we are volunteering within the community to help and rally resources for other people to come on board and assist and help us."

Sager says the website has their contact information and a link to their Facebook page.

She also adds that if you have items to donate, just give them a call.

"Any one of those ways one of our volunteers will be able to coordinate a drop-off location or come and actually pick up the clothes," she says. "We've accepted new donations, used donations and cash donations. We are paying it back 100% to the community."
