The big day has finally arrived for Highwood High School Grads.

Principal Leah Kingston says she, and the staff, are all very excited.

"This is the culmination of their education as we know, their public education at Highwood High School and it's a great day for all involved, parents, family members, staff, we all enter this day full of anticipation and at the end of the day we're just mostly, so very proud of all of the students and look forward to celebrating with them," Kingston says.

She says they always try to keep the festivities in George Lane Park short and sweet, and says that'll be the case this time around considering the hot weather.

Having had most of the students right from Grade 9 and through their developmental years all staff from the custodians to support staff, office staff, councillors and teachers, Kingston says it really is a team effort and the success wouldn't happen without the collaboration of everyone involved.

The dinner this year is being held in a large tent on the football field and Kingston was thankful to everyone who've helped pull it off. She admits it's going to be hot but it'll be a memory the students will keep with them for a lifetime.

And considering the Grad ceremonies two years ago had to be postponed for two months and moved because of the 2013 flood they'll take the sunshine.

This is Kingston's last Grad at Highwood as she's moving to take over at Okotoks Junior High in the fall.
