The Bone and Biscuit in Okotoks had fun with pets and their owners this weekend in support of the Foothills Country Hospice.

The store held a Hot Dogs pageant where dogs were dressed in their finest attire to raise funds for the hospice.

Pets competed in categories like formal wear, talent, and took part in a Q and A.

Chris Baker, owner of the Bone and Biscuit Okotoks, says him and his wife chose to support the hospice after learning what it takes to operate the facility.

"Elaine, my wife and business partner, ran into Stephanie Barnes with Foothills Country Hospice and had talked to her about wanting to do something as they need over $1.5 million a year in donations to continue to do the great work they do and we just thought 'you know what let's see what we can do to help them out' and we came up with the idea of a pageant."

Baker adds he's grateful for the support and looks forward to bringing the event back next year.

"We want to thank everyone that came out and participated, we had a lot of local sponsors help us out as well with donations and we look forward to doing it next year and getting a bigger turnout," he says. "Support the Foothills Country Hospice, or any charity, however you can they're all needing a hand right now so do what you can to help out."

All of the registration fees and funds from the event went directly to the hospice with over $350 being raised.
