The Okotoks Food Bank has seen an increase in the day to day need due to economic struggles.

When shelves are full in a week they easily can become bare, even with the donations from companies like Cargil.

Sheila Hughes, Executive Director of the Okotoks Food Bank, says she believes they will see the need continue to increase.

"I believe we will continue to see the need increase that we have seen since September. Through the whole year of 2015 we have seen the need go up by 35% and I see that need continuing to increase."

However a light that has come from the darkness and people now pay attention to what the food bank is in need of for donations.

Hughes says people really have been paying attention to their Facebook page.

"People are paying really close attention to what we post every Wednesday of what we need and what the most needed items are on our website."

The hope is that people will pay the same amount of attention after the holiday season.

Historically, the food bank sees a decrease in the first two to three months of the new year.

Hughes says "If people keep paying attention to the Facebook page we will continue to post the top 10 things we need."

Some of the in need items are size 4, 5 and 6 diapers.
