The Rowan House emergency women's shelter has kicked off its annual Holiday Wish campaign.

Executive Director Sherrie Botten says they're hoping the community will again step up and help them out.

Botten says $50 can provide a gift card that allows a woman to buy a gift for her and her children or $100 can buy a gift basket.

"The whole December seasonal time is always a more difficult time for families if they find themselves without a home or in an emergency shelter," Botten says. "Moms want to provide things for their children, they want to be able to give their children a good Christmas, want to be able to provide for them, want to be able to give some gifts, and often is they're in the midst of leaving one house and being set up in another one it can be a real tough time to provide those things so their children can have a nice Christmas."

Rowan House is hoping to make the holidays a little brighter by decorating the house, having the smell of good food flow through the home and by providing a small gift basket to open on Christmas morning.

You can go to www.rowanhouse.ca for more information or to purchase a gift for someone at the shelter.
