Foothills residents can saddle up in support of STARS.

The annual Ride For STARS event is back and taking over for the Millarville Ride For STARS that's been going on for 28 years.

A wagon ride and a hike have been added this year to expand the audience of the event.

Claire Perks, event organizer, says there's plenty included in the registration cost.

"The registration is $100 per person and all that money goes to STARS, so it's a great fundraiser," she says. "You get the opportunity to go for a big trail ride along beautiful private land. There's a breakfast from the Calgary Stampede Caravan Committee, you get a shirt, you get a scarf, you get lunch, and you get dinner."

Perks says this year the event is being held in Priddis.

"This is actually private land that you wouldn't be able to go on. It's a piece of land that's 5,000 acres so there's not a house or a fence in sight, just beautiful rolling hills and big mountain views."

The Ride For STARS takes place on Sept. 26. To register click here.
