As the UCP nominations are officially underway in the Highwood Constituency, nominees are working hard to develop relationships with voters.

Wayne Anderson, current Highwood MLA, says he's confident the history he's had in the position will make a difference when it comes to voting time.

"I feel confident, I mean I've been the sitting MLA now for four years, and I've received a considerable amount of endorsements from fairly high profile individuals, including the mayor of Okotoks," he said.

Anderson says his work over this past term has earned him much support within the Highwood Constituency.

"I've been talking to people over the summer period, and getting a lot of support from a lot of individuals who know my name brand, and who know that I've worked hard in this constituency to do, I think, the right things here to represent the constituency, not just here, but in Edmonton, as well," he said.

He adds he has high hopes for winning the nomination, and says his experience and level of representation has earned him a good reputation.

Anderson adds the position has it's pros and cons, and requires much time away from home in the city of Edmonton.

Nominees are still awaiting an election date, and hope voters will obtain the respectful memberships in time to cast their vote. Voters must hold their membership for a period of 21 days before being permitted to vote.
