Five people were sent to various hospitals Monday morning after a two vehicle crash on Highway 22 south of Highway 533 near Chain Lakes.

Three people from a mini-van were taken to hospital by ground ambulance, one male teen with non-life threatening injuries was taken to the Children's Hospital in Calgary, while two more, a school-aged child and an adult were taken to Oilfields Hospital in Black Diamond with minor injuries.

The two male teens in the car were taken to the Children's Hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

Adam Loria with EMS says they're usually kept pretty busy when the snow starts to fall.

"You know, this was quite a significant incident. Hopefully we won't have any more today. But we always sort of prepare for this when the weather, I guess, takes a turn for the worse. But, it's inevitable, it always comes around this white stuff, so we prepare as best as we can."

EMS crews from High River, Nanton, Claresholm, Black Diamond and Blairmore all attended the scene.

RCMP are investigating.
