Foothills residents can find themselves in a tropical setting without leaving Okotoks.

Next month the Foothills Centennial Centre will be turned into a Hawaiian luau for the Foothills Country Hospice annual gala dinner.

Each year the gala raises funds for the hospice through its ticket sales and sponsorship as well as through silent and live auctions.

Dawn Elliott, executive director of the hospice, says gala goers are in for an authentic experience.

"It's going to transformed into a Hawaiian themed location, it's just absolutely beautiful with Hawaiian music playing," she says. "You'll come into the entrance way and you'll receive a lei from one of our Hawaiian greeters and a glass of champagne. We have a silent auction, a live auction, a donor board, dinner and dance, and just a great time."

Elliott says each year the town does an amazing job at coming together for the event.

"We receive a lot of support from Okotoks and the surrounding areas. This is our big fundraiser of the year, it's our biggest, and we really hope to see everybody come out."

Tickets for the gala are $150 each or a table of eight can be purchased for $1,000. There's also different levels of sponsorships with traditional Hawaiian names like the Big Kahuna, Oahu, Maui, and Kauai. To learn more about each level click here.

The gala takes place on Oct. 24 at 5 p.m.
