Another Harvest Fest has come and gone in Okotoks with great success.

Community members showed their spirit by taking to Elizabeth Street and taking in different harvest activities and enjoy what locals had to offer in the Harvest Fest farmers market.

Community Events Coordinator Mark Doherty says the town is ready for next fall already.

"This is our 4th year doing this and it was really designed just to showcase our community to give them an event that is just ours."

The festival celebrating harvest caps off what was another success festival season that included Buskersfest, Chili-Fest and the Taste of Okotoks.

Doherty says when the streets are closed off these events are a hit with the community.

'It's just a great family event to bring the kids out, learn a little about what harvest is all about, how the farmers work, we got some farm equipment here and got our petting zoo along with old fashioned carnival games and that's a fundraiser for the United Way.

This year's event like most events in Okotoks had a strong focus on local involvment with harvest stands and the entertainment provided throughout the day.

"It's just one of those events that you come, we feature all local entertainment, all of our vendors are local and we hand select them for our farmer's market we don't want duplicates in there," Doherty says. "So we've got fresh produce from the hutterites and it's just a cool event."

Next up for the Doherty is his second trip up to the rooftop of the Okotoks Sobeys where he and The Eagle 100.9's Jayme Hall will fundraise for the United Way on October 16th.
