Okotokians flocked to Ethel Tucker park Saturday, Sept. 23 to enjoy the mild autumn weather and some blues.

The sixth annual Harvest and Blues Festival was held throughout the afternoon, with around 1000 visitors taking in the attractions.

Mark Doherty, Community Events Coordinator for the Town of Okotoks says all proceeds raised from the event will go right back to Okotokians in need.

"So we partnered with United Way right off the beginning, it's the start of their fundraising season. Everything raised here through the carnival games and the barbeque goes directly back to Okotoks united way, and it stays in the community."

Along with a lineup of four talented blues artists, Doherty says there were plenty of family activities too.

"There were carnival games, we had a petting zoo, and a blacksmith, it's just really a family event. It's really for our community, that's why we love the small town feel."

Doherty says last year's event combined with the annual rooftop camp out raised about $10,000 for Okotoks United Way.
