A new service is being offered in Okotoks to help residents with the hassle of grocery shopping.

Grocery Link was created to help those who may not be physically able to leave their homes or have the time by bringing groceries from the store to their door.

Paul Hutlet, owner and founder, says the concept for his business was spurred by his family.

"The whole reason why I started this company is because my mom suffers from rheumatoid arthritis and she can't shop for her own groceries, and my sister has vertigo who's children are all graduating, she's got one left, and she doesn't know what she's going to do to go grocery shopping."

Hutlet says Grocery Link is much more than a grocery shopping and delivery service.

"We work with families to modify their grocery shopping habits and give them a grocery economic lesson of how to plan smarter, buy smarter, how to increase their family time, and how to reduce their food waste at the source."

An individual can purchase a one month, two month, or three month membership which includes weekly scheduled grocery shopping and delivery services.

Groceries are purchased from any local grocery store the customer chooses as well as specialty food shops and brick and mortar stores.

Grocery Link was born in Calgary and has now spread to Okotoks, Dewinton, Strathmore, Chestermere, Airdrie and Cochrane.
